i agree, a bit on the cheesy side. maybe its the new age with such an old franchise.

I don’t know. The cockpit of the X-Wing was likely modeled on something like the F-105, F-4 or Lightning. It and the pilots gear aren’t that bad.

It’s just that the quality of fabrication is really cheap looking. It looks obviously phony. The photos you post look much better.

To me this is an example of the High-Def Effect, the higher resolution brings out any tiny flaws in something and makes all aspects of production much harder. There’s a post on Reddit about this and why the film/television industry is using filters on the lenses of cameras to soften the image slightly, I just got home and don’t have the energy to search for the post at the moment.
